Why we only hold eight

Most used cars are sold by people who have never driven them.

A car arrives in part exchange, gets a wash and a photograph, and goes straight back out with whatever it came in with still inside it. Nobody lied to you. Nobody looked, either.

We buy fewer cars so we can look at all of them. Every one comes into the same bay and goes under the same light, and it stays there until somebody has been round it properly - the panels, the electrics, the tyres, the book, and a drive long enough to find the things a five minute one never does.

Some of them fail. Those go straight back out to the trade and you never see them.

What is left is eight cars, and a sheet for each of them saying exactly what we found. That is the whole business.
